Wedding Recap: Courtney & Aaron

This past weekend we had the pleasure of coordinating Courtney and Aaron’s glam winter wedding.  The day was extraordinary and full of surprises for the Groom (who, I have been told, is not keen of surprises).  The women gathered at The Berg for final touch ups and then the Bride and Groom exchanged their first look in the building’s freight elevator.  I loved the charm and history that the building told.

As guests arrived for the ceremony, which was officiated by the Bride’s older brother, they saw photos of the couple surrounding a custom print that read “It was always you.”  This sweet pair met while in high school and maintained their friendship throughout college days and up until their I Do’s.  It was so sweet to see so many life long friends joined in support of the happy couple.  Courtney and Aaron exchanged their custom vows under a breathtaking chandelier installed by UltraPom.  And then, sweet Ella, the Bride’s daughter, was asked to join the newlyweds and share in family vows.  Ella was then presented with a ring to wear.  It was so sweet to witness.

Guests made their way into a heated tent while the room was transformed for celebration, cocktails and dancing.  Courtney emerged into the reception in an elegant reception dress and the surprises continued.  After the traditional cutting of the cake, the room filled with the University of Kansas Fight Song and a custom Jayhawk cake, created by Adorn Cakes, was brought out to the Groom.  He was speechless and it was so fun to watch him fill with excitement (I love surprises!!).

The day was filled with so much excitement, joy and happiness.  Courtney and Aaron- I wish you a lifetime of love, happiness and laughter.  Thank you for choosing Events by Nellie for your special day.  It was an honor to watch your family become one.

Wedding Recap: Megan & Willie

At our final meeting, Megan looked at me and said “I want to ensure that the first time I see Willie is when I walk down the aisle”.  I nodded my head and told her I would do everything I could to ensure the first time she saw her soon-to-be-husband would be as she was escorted down the aisle by her father.  As the time came for Megan to walk down the aisle, I had butterflies in my stomach for her.  This moment, the moment that most little girls dream of their entire lives was about to happen.  Megan was going to become Mrs. Koss and marry her best friend, soul mate and forever partner.

Each EBN Couple has their own story that is one of the many things I love about my work.  I love stories… how couples meet, how they got engaged and how they look into each other’s eyes on their wedding day.

Megan and Willie began “hanging out” as seniors in high school and then took their own paths in college- still maintaining their friendship.  Upon graduation, they picked up where they left off and you could say the rest is history.  Their story involves so many friends and family that love them.  Friends from college, family from all over and high school soccer buddies joined in the celebration of two incredible people.

This couple’s story began before they even knew one another.  Their dad’s played basketball through the Church together.  That same Church is where Megan and Willie exchanged I Do’s this past Saturday.  After a traditional Catholic mass, presided by Megan’s uncle (who also happens to be a priest), nearly 300 of the couple’s closest family and friends joined in a celebration.  And did they celebrate!  Everyone filled the dance floor from the moment it opened until the party was over.  It was truly a joyous day full of memories for Megan and Willie’s love story.

Megan and Willie, it was an honor and joy to be part of YOUR wedding day.  I love your kind hearts, incredible sense of humor and sincere kindness.  I wish you a long, healthy and blessed marriage.

Wedding Recap: Hannah & Travis

Hannah and Travis celebrated the union of their marriage in an intimate setting surrounded by about 70 of their closest friends and family. The Bride and Groom are both incredibly creative, so I was excited to see their special touches unfold throughout the day.

Guests were shuttled in from a nearby hotel and greeted by fresh florals byBella Chic Floral at the entrance of Weston Red Barn Farm.  They made their way to the ceremony location, passing a custom sign from Ultrapom and walking amidst an apple orchard.  Two Church pews from the Bride’s home Church set in the first row of the Ceremony.

Vintage plates, flatware and glassware graced each place setting.  I loved how each place setting had a unique design and aesthetic.  Bella Chic Floral did an amazing job filling various milk glass with the gorgeous blooms.  Delicate lace graced atop vintage gray runners.  All of this gorgeousness was laid on Ultrapom’s Farm Tables.  I might have died and gone to heaven with the vintage elegance in this space.

Moxie Catering served a family style dinner to all the guests.  The evening’s menu, was full of amazing comfort food and incredibly well presented.  From vegan Shepherd’s Pie to pulled pork sliders to roasted vegetabls.

Framed photos of relatives hung on a nearby wall, showing that they were present in spirit and part of Hannah and Travis wedding day.  Hannah’s family owns Mud Pie Bakery and their baristas created made to order espresso and coffee for each guest.  AND as each guest departed, they received hand roasted coffee beans courtesy of Mud Pie Bakery and Hannah’s brother in law.

Congratulations Hannah and Travis!  It was a pure joy and honor to be part of your wedding day.

Wedding Recap: Courtney and Curtis

It is very rare to have an 80° Fall day in Kansas City. However, the stars aligned and made for a perfect weather on Courtney and Curtis’s special day.  After being together for over six years, I am so excited that we were able to play a small part on this wonderful couple’s wedding day.

What I loved most about this past Saturday was that both the Bride and Groom had their own special touch in every little aspect of the wedding. Courtney has an incredible eye for styling!  She thought of everything all the way down to the very last details of snuggle blankets and a floral necklace for her fur-baby. Curtis, designed all the various paper details from the invitations to the little tags on each Smore’s bag.

I love working with couples that have a marriage just as beautiful as their wedding day. The way that Curtis and Courtney look at each other, you know that they are going to have a life full of happiness, laughter, and your love!  Thank you for choosing Events by Nellie to help bring to life your vision.

Wedding Recap: Jenny and Darren

My heart is so full after watching Darren and Jenny become husband and wife this past Friday. Jenny was a maid of honor at an Events by Nellie wedding several years ago.  I vividly remember how she talked about her brother being her best friend during her toast and admired their friendship.  This past January, immediately after Jenny became engaged, Jenny contacted me! I could not have been more thrilled that Jenny had found her soulmate in Darren.

If I were to describe Friday, it would be pure happiness! During the ceremony, Jenny looked up and told the Darren “I am so happy! ” This bride was radiant and smiled from ear to ear from the moment the day be in until the final farewell at the end of the evening.

I could not be more excited for Darren and Jenny on this joyous occasion. The two of them are so compassionate, loving, and kind! They deserve nothing but the best and have found the best in each other.
